As Android TV comes with features like EPG (Electronic Program Guide), PVR, etc, is it possible in the near future that Set Top Boxes become obsolete?

All the broadcaster needs to do is to write an Android App and deploy it in the subscribers' Android TV!

Is this possible at all?

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone might know why Kodi on my android box will be working fine and then out of nowhere stop working. It will say "url could not be found" or something similar. It did this last night and I didn't feel like dealing with it so I unplugged it thinking that might help. I plugged it back in this morning and it still wasn't working and tried figuring it out for about an hour without actually doing or changing anything and then all of a sudden it started working again....

So we all pretty much know about the YouTube API change earlier this year. I'm still trying to figure out an alternative to that problem. Google has also prevented the continued use of most Google TV boxes and televisions. If you do a quick search you will undoubtedly see how many people can no longer use their Google TV devices after a hard reset. I found myself here after performing a reset to try and get more performance out of my device.

It seems that Google has blocked the activation...

All three of my Chomecasts sucked down a steady 450Kb/sec of data from Dec 12 to Dec 19 (and similarly, at a slightly lower data rate, in an earlier period from Dec 3 to Dec 6). They aren't doing it any more, and didn't do it during any other intervals in the 30 days I have detailed logs for.

In my own opinion; and, I'm sure 99% of you will agree: Google Needs DVR and Streaming capabilities. If they had that I can't see how anyone WOULDN'T want that.

Hello, I have a couple different google tv boxes, a variety of models. All run Android and for the most part, only use netflix and kodi with them. I would like to find an app or config that will run a slideshow of personal pictures when the box is idle. These pictures are stored on a file server in my home using a basic windows folder share. Anyone doing anything like this? I found a couple apps that I tried, some require you to launch the slide show manually, others only use cloud photo...
